Your $50 processing fee includes: *Professional review of your Independent Study submission *Evaluation of your documentation for RID CMP eligibility *Verification that your activity meets applicable RID CMP requirements *Communication regarding missing or incomplete documentation, when applicable *CEU calculation and determination of the appropriate CEU amount, if approved *Official processing and reporting of approved CEUs *Maintenance of sponsor records in accordance with RID CMP policies Important: RID CMP requires that your Independent Study Plan receive sponsor approval before you begin your Independent Study activity.
Eligibility Requirements
Your Independent Study activity may be eligible if it: *Is directly related to interpreting, Deaf studies, DeafBlind interpreting, language access, ethics, professional practice, or another topic recognized under RID CMP. *Has clearly defined educational content and learning objectives. *Includes sufficient documentation to verify completion. *Meets current RID CMP Independent Study requirements. Examples of potentially eligible activities include: *Recorded webinars *Professional conference recordings *Educational video series *Structured self-paced online learning *Mentoring *Other qualifying professional development activities KIS CMP Sponsor reviews each submission individually. Eligibility is determined based on RID CMP requirements in effect at the time of review.
Required Documentation:
Your submission must include: *Title of the learning activity *Date(s) completed *Provider or organization *Any documentation to verify eligibility (if available) Agenda, syllabus, course description, or learning objectives *Total time Any additional documentation requested by KIS to verify eligibility. Incomplete submissions may delay processing.
Refund Policy
The $50 fee covers the administrative review of your submission. Refunds are available only if: *You accidentally purchased the service more than once for the same activity, or *KIS is unable to begin the review because of an administrative error on our part. Refunds are not available after review has begun, including when: *Your activity does not meet RID CMP eligibility requirements. *Required documentation is missing or insufficient. *Your submission is denied based on RID CMP policies.
Processing Timeline
Most complete submissions are reviewed within 10 business days after all required documentation has been received. The review period begins once all requested documentation has been submitted. If additional information or documentation is needed, the KIS CMP Sponsor Administrator will contact you with specific guidance and provide you with a one-time opportunity to submit the requested information so we can continue processing your submission. Please submit all requested corrections within 30 calendar days of our request. If we do not receive the requested information within that timeframe, your submission will be closed. A new Independent Study CEU Processing purchase will be required to reopen or resubmit the activity. Our review is based on the documentation you provide and current RID CMP requirements. While we strive to help participants submit complete and eligible documentation, the $50 fee covers the administrative review process and does not guarantee CEU approval. After purchasing this service, you will: 1) Complete the Independent Study submission form. 2) Upload your supporting documentation. 3) Receive an email confirming that KIS has received your submission. 4) Receive notification of your review outcome within approximately 10 business days of receiving a complete submission. 5) If your Independent Study Plan is approved, you may proceed with your proposed activity. 6) After completing your Independent Study activity, you are responsible for contacting the KIS CMP Sponsor Administrator and submitting your completion documentation for final review and CEU processing.
